This month, our artist interview series will see Draw’s Jake Spicer talking with artist and illustrator Myfanwy Tristram. The event is free and everybody is welcome, so please feel free to share this link as widely as you would like.
Myfanwy Tristram makes comics about activism, pop culture and social history. Working with comics, illustration and reportage, Myfanwy has co-ordinated projects such as Draw The Line where 100+ artists depicted positive political actions, and has published many comics including Sorry For The Inconvenience, I Am Trying To Save The World. Most recently, Myfanwy has released her graphic novel - Noisy Valley, The Art of Protest is both a love letter to the Workers Gallery in the Rhonda valley, and also a clarion call around the importance of the act of protest in the current age.
Born in Devon in 1968 and now living in Brighton on the south coast of England, Myfanwy fits her practice around a fulltime job at a digital democracy NGO. Myfanwy is interested in the power of comics to educate, enrage and create change in the world. As well as the small inequities of everyday life, she tackles global systemic issues, always with some humour and the aim of also putting visually appealing artwork into the world.
