Online Portrait Drawing

Our online portrait drawing sessions are relaxed, friendly and open to drawers of all abilities and levels of experience. In this untutored clothed portrait session our model will pose live on Zoom for three head-and-shoulder focused poses. We’ll begin with a 10-minute warm up where the model will hold their head still while chatting to our session leader, giving you the chance to get to know them a bit better and quick sketches of their articulate face. They will then hold a 45-minute-long pose, followed by a 10-minute tea break and a final 45-minute pose. 

How to join the session

Patreon supporters on the Portrait, Life and Student tier can access this session for free. Alternatively you can book this sessions as a one-off by clicking the ‘Add to Cart’ button at the bottom of the event listing and following the links through to payment. You will receive a receipt as soon as you have paid as confirmation of the booking and you will receive a link by email on the day of the session, 30 minutes before the class begins – please aim to book at least 30 minutes before the session starts to receive your link in good time.

If you are a Draw Patreon supporter on the Student, Life or Student Tiers you will be able to find the link to join this session on the Draw Patreon page on the day of the class; you will be able to access a recording of the session from Tuesday morning onwards, which you can revisit at any time alongside our library of past portrait recordings. If are not a Draw Patreon supporter, we’d recommend taking a look at our Patreon HERE, as it might save you money if you plan on attending more than once a month. For a monthly membership which you can increase, decrease, or cancel at any time and you will get access to these live classes, recorded tutorials, blog posts and photo reference.

To take part, you need:

• A Zoom account
• A tablet or smartphone with the Zoom app or a computer
• Drawing or painting materials

Looking after the model

• Please, never take photographs or screen shots of the model
• Keep your camera on during the session – this helps the model to feel safe and to maintain the sense of community that is so important to our classes. If you cannot turn your camera on, just let the session leader know by chat message at the start of the session.
• You are always welcome to send the model a thankyou tip via the link that accompanies your booking. (The model is paid £125+ royalties for the recordings for this session).

After the session

There is no pressure to share your drawings, but if you would like to you can post them up on the Draw Community Facebook group HERE – it is a great chance to see the work other people have made and to connect with other sketchers.
