In 2009 Jake Spicer set up ‘The Brighton Life Drawing Sessions’ - a weekly drop-in life class held in the corner of a small studio in New England House, Brighton, shared with a seamstress and the fledgling graphic design studio The Entente/Colophon. In 2011 Jake partnered with Shelley Morrow to create ‘Draw’ and expanded into a dedicated studio running daily life drawing classes. In 2020 we had to move our life classes online and now reach an international drawing community through our online life classes, online portrait sessions, tutorial videos and photo references. In 2021 we raised money for a new, larger studio in New England House, incorporating lithography facilities into the space and re-opening in-person sessions to run alongside our virtual programme. Our online community continues to grow across the globe and runs alongside our thriving, creative in-person studio in Brighton.
